Parking Lot is now OPEN!
New Beachfront Community Park
Community Update - June 2023
The new Avellanas Beach Public Parking Lot is now open. Parking is no longer be allowed in public land near the beach access between the two beachfront restaurants or along the streets. Please park in the new Public Parking Lot on the south side of the beach road. All proceeds from the new parking lot go directly back to the community through improvement and conservation initiatives and projects. The lot is open from sunrise to sunset and rates are as follows:
Half Day: 1000 colones
Full Day: 2000 colones
50% Community Discount
Community Monthly Passes available for 15.000 colones
Long Term Rates for 6 months or 1 year are forthcoming.

A lot of hard work, planning and organization went into bringing a beautiful park for everyone to enjoy in Playa Avellanas. Thank you to the volunteers and committee members for your time, effort and money for this amazing project!
This is the first phase of a large and ongoing community project that began in the planning and organizing stages many months ago. This week we were able to open the new public parking in order to close the old parking lot on the beach and start reforesting and repurposing it as a community park.
The funds from the parking lot are the only source of income to support this park reforestation and many more planting and protection projects planned for our coastal areas.
Please come see the progress and support our efforts by using the new parking lot and not parking illegally on the streets or other places along the beach.

New park construction and planting will begin on June 16, 2023. The Municipality will close the old parking lot, remove the concrete slab, and start planting trees for the park. The preliminary design of the park can be found on the Planning and Design Committee Page of this website.
Trees have been planted in both the new parking lot and the new park at the beach on June 21-23. Thank you to all the volunteers that helped plant!
